Day 45 — I discovered that the word ally mattered more than I realized.

WED

Something happened today.

I had been talking with organizations about SOAPSzone. Volta. Ignite. CBDC. The usual language in those worlds is assistance. Support. Mentorship. Help. Programs designed to move an entrepreneur forward.

But I kept resisting the frame.

I was not asking for help.

I was asking for an ally.

That difference mattered to me in my gut before I could fully explain it.

Help can accidentally create a vertical relationship. You have something I lack. I am coming to you because I need you to fix a weakness or provide a missing piece.

An ally stands beside you.

They may know things you do not. They may have resources. They may challenge you. You may challenge them. But the relationship begins from the assumption that you are already moving.

Walk with me.

See what this becomes.

Tell me what you notice.

I liked the idea so much that when I prepared material for Jody, I did not want a sales pitch. I wanted something more like an invitation: I invite you to walk with me on this, whenever you want to experience what it is like to be inside of it.

That felt right.

Not, Please validate this.

Not, Please rescue this.

Come look.

The ally idea connected back to loneliness in a way I had not expected. Maybe part of what I had been wanting for years was not somebody with answers. It was somebody willing to enter the question beside me.

That is companionship in inquiry again.

An ally does not carry you.

An ally walks.
